" Hi, My name is Valerie Ball nee Lowndes and I was a first day pupil at Kamo High School on the 2nd of Feb 1960. I attended the school until December 1963 when I left to go nursing in Whangarei Hospital. I left there to marry Kevin Ball on the 13th of June 1964.. We are still happily together after 40 yrs. I now live in Masterton where Kevin is a journalist with the local newspaper. I work full time as a volunteer with the local SPCA. I am the manager of the centre.
We have three adult children... One in Masterton who has his own business, One in Melbourne who is a social worker and a daughter in London who is a fraud officer for immigration. We have become foster parents of mostly teenage girls on an emergency basis. This is proving very worthwhile. My involment with the community has led me many places over the years and I gained a MNZM (Member of Merit for NZ ) in 2002 for service to community. My work is centred on a philosophy of Animal healing people and people healing animals. IT works. I have involment with the First Strike movement which covers the correlation between animal and the criminal factor of life. I would love to have contact with some of the other first year pupils. Madeleine Lyndsey, Ann Perkinson, Lorraine Mc Kenzie were the friends I spent my time with. Kevin and I left Whangarei in 1977 and settled in Masterton in 1978.
Looking forward to contact

I'm back playing rugby again next semester and have picked up the nickname 'D2'-don't ask. Next year there shall be a change in plans and I'm off "to join the army" as I have always liked toy guns. I am still Lesa's boyfriend and we intend to get engaged in the not too distant future. I'd just like to say hi to all current students and teachers, even you Miss Cairns. Now you should all say that you can make something of yourself, and don't forget folks "the difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little bit extra". "Hi everyone!
It's been such a long time since I finished school at the end of '98. I still miss you all to this day. Talking my shoes off for Mr. Farrely, disrupting Mr. Hamilton's chemistry class, hanging out in the music room most of my life... it was all good! Well in about June / July of this year ('03), I'm publishing my first children's book called The Worm In A Red Sock with my own publishing company, Pet Mink Publishing. From there I will publish A Cat In A Christmas Hat hopefully by Christmas time and then hopefully 4 books next year. With the money that company makes, I'll create an advertising company called Don'tBlink Advertising which will lead on to The Sleeping Moon Productions, my largest project. When I have enough finance to do so, I'll create my Record Label, Inkling Music. Well that's the plan anyway. If anyone is interested in writing, whether it be a children's book or screenplay for a movie, I'd love to hear from you. I'd also love to hear from anyone just to say hi.
Believe in yourselves and succeed because you can.
Love Mason ,,,>^..^<,,,
